At Molineux, there are a lot of reasons to be cautiously optimistic for the new season and while Wolves fans would have enjoyed their side’s dramatic last day escape from relegation, they will be hoping that 2011-12 is a much calmer campaign.
As far as the betting is concerned, the recent capture of Jamie O’Hara from Spurs will have lifted spirits around the club and for those looking to gamble on Wolves’ fortunes, it may well have lengthened the odds with regards to a possible relegation next time around.
Wolves’ owner Steve Morgan has come out and said that he hopes that the signing of O’Hara could attract some bigger names to the club but perhaps the biggest bonus last season was the effect that he had on the players around him. Matt Jarvis, Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt all seemed to raise their games and that in turn played its part in Wolves’ ultimate survival.
As far as the early betting goes, if you think that Wolves will go down next season, despite all the optimism around Molineux, a gamble in this respect will return a best price of 9/4 with BWin while the same outlet will give you 2/7 on Mick McCarthy’s men staying up.
Of course it’s really hard to predict at this stage but the 9/4 price will give you better value for your bet. If one thing is likely then it’s the fact that Wolves will still be at the wrong end of the table by next May so if you think that a relegation battle will be played out by the men in old gold once again, then take BWin at 9/4 before those odds start to shorten.
